Total Application Delivery Platform® (TADP) is a suite of technologies that provide application availability, security, visibility, and acceleration. TADP is the combination of network optimization and application delivery control. At the data center end of a TADP is the Application Delivery Controller part which is an advanced traffic management device that is often also referred to as a web switch, content switch, or multilayer switch, the purpose of which is to distribute traffic among a number of servers or geographically dislocated sites based on application specific criterion. In the branch office portion of a TADP is the Network Optimization Controller, which uses objectless powerful caching techniques to reduce the number of bits that flow over the network, and shapes TCP traffic using prioritization and other optimization techniques.

L4/L7 Load Balancing

Total Application Delivery Platform® can be deployed as a hardware or virtual appliance and can intelligently load balance hardware or virtual servers running any number of Layer 7 and Layer 4 protocols. These include HTTP/S, SMTP, IMAP, FTP/S, DNS, XML, TCP and UDP as well as a number of other common protocols. Additionally, it supports both IPv6 and IPv4 load balancing and can operate in full IPv6 or IPv4 networks, as well as mixed environments where an address translation is needed to bridge the IPv6 and IPv4 networks.

Highly Scalable

With different boxes, processing power is tailored to each need with parallel operating modes (also active-passive/active-active/passive-passive) based on infrastructure needs and level of criticality.

In parallel mode, all traffic will be shared by each TR7 parallel devices. These nodes use the hash of the source and destination addresses of the IP packet to determine which node should accept the packet. This will cause TR7 to use a multicast MAC address, forcing the switch to send incoming traffic to all nodes in the redundancy group. Each group can use maximum 32 physical devices.

Powerfull Web Accelerator

Total Application Delivery Platform® has a Powerful Web Accelerator (PWA) designed for content-heavy dynamic web sites. PWA caches fully-rendered responses to HTTP requests and serves them without the delay of building content from scratch. It’s so much more efficient than building a page with web server. PWA is an amazing and incredibly efficient tool for serving up common resources from site to end-users. Besides simply making site faster, it also can add additional redundancy to setup by acting as a full backup if the web servers fail. In order to make PWA both serve as an effective backup and efficient caching layer, it needs to clean up incoming headers from the browser, strip down cookies, and consolidate the "Accept-Encoding" header. For most sites no further customization is needed, and sites that need to tweak it will have a good head start towards huge reductions in server load. PWA is usually able to handle about 85% of the traffic without ever touching the web servers. Even during peak times with hundreds of thousands of requests coming in per hour, PWA can hum along at less than 5% CPU usage of a TR-8893-HW. Instead of scaling out web servers horizontally, adding a parallel PWA enabled machines in front of them can save a huge amount of processing and speed up site at the same time.

TADP has full traffic control and can route requests to servers based on region, device, browser, or a number of other factors. This enables organizations to deliver customized application responses to users.

Application Security

Intel® Data Protection Technology with AES-NI and Secure Key

AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is an encryption standard adopted by the U.S. government starting in 2001. It is widely used across the software ecosystem to protect network traffic, personal data, and corporate IT infrastructure. AES is a symmetric block cipher that encrypts/decrypts data through several rounds. The new 2010 Intel® CoreTM processor family (code name Westmere) includes a set of new instructions, Intel® Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) New Instructions (AES-NI). The instructions were designed to implement some of the complex and performance intensive steps of the AES algorithm using hardware and thus accelerating the execution of the AES algorithms. Total Application Delivery Platform® used to accelerate the performance of an SSL offloading with implementation of AES-NI into all appliances and solutions.
